Esther Crow has been a guest story hour reader at Bank Street Book Store, every other Thursday, since October, 2016. She reads stories in very animated fashion, and incorporates original music and hand-made puppets (by Jeff Lewonczyk). Starting Monday, June 5th, Esther will be teaching drop-in (“come when you can”) music classes at 10:30 a.m. at the Great Hill in Central Park. This class is ideal for parents who love eclectic music, and want to expose their children to a variety of genres, including: rock, funk, soul, disco, surf, jazz, and even classical. During each class, we’ll open with a “warm up”, sing along to recorded songs (or a capella), play percussive instruments, learn rhythmic patterns, move like animals (or imaginary creatures and robots), and end with “free-style” dancing.

Each class is 45 minutes, open to kids 0-5 years old (accompanied by an adult), and the first one is always FREE ($20- cash only- thereafter. $10 for each additional sibling). Enter the park at 108th and Central Park West, and follow the upward path, to the right, until you reach the Great Hill. You’ll see a circular path around a big, grassy area. Bring a small blanket to sit on, and look for the purple balloon, under a tree, on the left side of the hill!

Classes are limited to 18 people (kids and grownups combined). So get there early, and let’s get FUNKY!
